Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY-21), Member of the Committee on Education and the Workforce, voted in support of H.R. 1180, the Working Families Flexibility Act – legislation she cosponsored to allow employers to offer paid time off in place of cash wages for overtime hours worked by private sector employees.
“Our workforce has changed dramatically over the past few decades and we must update our laws and regulations to follow suit,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “This commonsense legislation gives needed flexibility to our workforce by allowing employees to choose comp time as payment for overtime work -- the same flexibility government employees have long enjoyed. This will also give North Country employers a powerful new tool to recruit top talent. I urge the Senate to quickly pass this important legislation and send it to the President’s desk.”
