Washington, DC– Today, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY-21) announced a series of Federal Emergency Management Agency grants awarded to NY-21 fire departments under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. The AFG Program was created to enhance the ability of first responders to protect the health and safety of the public from fire and related hazards. Any fire department, non-affiliated Emergency Medical Service (EMS) agency, or State Fire Training Academy can apply.

“I am pleased to announce that two of our district’s fire departments have been awarded crucial grants under the AFG program, and I’m happy to support our district’s firefighters as they navigate the Federal grant process.” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “The Federal funding secured under the AFG program for the Lorraine Volunteer Fire Company and the Hammond Fire and Rescue Department will ensure they have the resources they need to keep us safe. I am committed to fighting for our North Country first responders.”
