Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has cosponsored the VA Hiring Enhancement Act. This legislation will help reduce VA physician vacancies by leveling the playing field for the VA hiring process and making hiring guidelines more consistent with already established requirements. It will make the Veterans Health Administration a more attractive employer and increase competition.
"I have a long record of standing up for veterans and the military in Congress,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “Our veterans sacrifice so much for our safety and freedom - the least we can do is ensure they receive quality health care in a timely manner. Unfortunately, one of the reasons wait times at the VA tend to be longer than civilian health care facilities is due to the amount of physician vacancies. This bipartisan legislation will address that lack in the system and give our veterans the care they so deserve. I'm proud to cosponsor this bill and look forward to its passage."
