Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik announced today that Glens Falls Hospital will be receiving $4.1 Million in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) funding through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). This funding goes to hospitals serving a large percentage of populations on thin margins and those in rural areas, small Metropolitan areas, and those with certain Medicare designations.

Congresswoman Stefanik wrote a new formula for HHS to use to ensure that rural hospitals receive adequate funding. HHS accepted the formula and used it to determine this new funding for Glens Falls Hospital.

“I am thrilled to announce this significant funding for Glens Falls Hospital, as it will help the hospital recover from revenue losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “I worked diligently directly with HHS in order to write a new formula that included our North Country hospitals, so they could receive the direct funding they so desperately need. I will continue to advocate for Glens Falls Hospital and our other North Country facilities, and deliver direct funding to them in their time of need.”

“The Congresswoman’s advocacy on behalf of GFH (and all the hospitals in this district) has been spectacular,” said Dianne Shugrue, President and CEO: of Glens Falls Hospital. “We are ever grateful for her hard work and that of her team throughout the COVID-19 crisis.”
