Washington, D.C. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has announced that the St. Lawrence Industrial Development Agency (IDA) will receive over $500,000 in Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) grant funding. This project will renovate a vacant 63,400 square foot factory that was vacated in 2011, including infrastructure service to enhance the site for economic development.

Congresswoman Stefanik has worked to expand availability of NBRC grants throughout NY-21, and she works to secure funding for it each year in the House Appropriations process.

“I’m proud to announce this significant NBRC grant funding for the St. Lawrence IDA,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “This grant will improve economic development in St. Lawrence County by renovating a large vacant factory. I worked to secure this funding by advocating for expanding availability of NBRC grant funding in our region, and I’m proud to deliver this result to my constituents.”

“The Northern Border Regional Commission has been an outstanding funding source for economic development projects in the region,” said Patrick J. Kelly, CEO, St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency. “The revitalization of the Newell Building is a complicated, expensive endeavor requiring the support of multiple partners and funding sources, but one that unquestionably improves the community and our economic development prospects. We appreciate the bipartisan support from our Federal and State officials to secure funding for the Northern Border Regional Commission and to make this award possible.”
