Washington, D.C. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has announced that the Herkimer Industrial Development Agency (IDA) will receive $1 million in Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) grant funding. This project will facilitate construction and implementation of the Eastern Mohawk Valley Regional Water Transmission Main, serving 22,000 residents across several communities in Herkimer County.

Congresswoman Stefanik has worked to expand availability of NBRC grants throughout NY-21, and she works to secure funding for it each year in the House Appropriations process. Congresswoman Stefanik also wrote and submitted a letter of support for this specific project.

“I’m proud to announce this significant NBRC grant funding for the Herkimer IDA,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “This grant will improve infrastructure in Herkimer county and facilitate construction projects. I worked to secure this funding by advocating for expanding availability of NBRC grant funding in our region, and I’m proud to deliver this result to my constituents.”

“This award ensures that the Eastern Mohawk Valley Regional Water Transmission Main will become a reality,” said John Piseck, Executive Director, Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency. “It will serve over 22,000 residents along the Erie Canal including the Villages of Herkimer, Ilion, and Frankfort, and the Towns of Herkimer and Schuyler. There is no doubt that this project will continue to attract strong economic development, not only for Herkimer County but for the Mohawk Valley Region as well! Without the support of Congresswoman Elise Stefanik this award would not have happened.”
