Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik joined her colleagues in sending a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland pushing for answers on the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) true intentions for their recent attempt to silence parents.
“It is shameful that President Biden is weaponizing the Department of Justice to go after Americans who disagree with his radical Far-Left agenda,” Stefanik said. “Our nation’s parents have the right to advocate for their children, but the Biden Administration’s recent unconstitutional actions will be used to stifle parents’ right to free speech and assembly. I will continue to take a stand for the First Amendment rights of our parents and all Americans.”
In the letter led by Congresswoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.), the lawmakers requested specific criteria and behavior for the “criminal conduct” the DOJ is trying to assign to concerned parents.
“As the top law enforcement officer in the United States, it is your responsibility to combat criminal behavior as well as defend the Constitutional rights of all Americans. We hope you will take these duties seriously and not stifle free speech while moving forward with your investigations,” the lawmakers concluded in their letter.
