Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik today announced $7,526,000 in water and waste disposal loans for North Country communities from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development fund.
“I am proud to announce over $7.5 million of taxpayer dollars will return to our district to invest in safe and effective water treatment for North Country residents,” Stefanik said. “This significant funding will be a lifeline for several of the North Country’s rural communities and support them in improving their current water infrastructure. I look forward to seeing the results this funding will provide to our communities.”
A breakdown of the funding can be seen here:
- $1,747,000 for New York Water and Waste Disposal for the village of Norwood in St. Lawrence County
- $1,029,000 for the town of Peru in Clinton County
- $1,350,000 for the town of Massena in St. Lawrence County
- $3,400,000 for Wellesley Island Water Corp in St. Lawrence County
