Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has issued the following statement condemning the actions of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on the 100th anniversary of their founding:

“Over the last century, the world has witnessed the horrific human rights abuses committed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Since its founding, the CCP has shown that the violation of basic human rights is central to their rule over the Chinese people. From the millions of Chinese killed under the reign of Mao Zedong, to today’s genocide of Uyghur minorities and the takeover of Hong Kong by Xi Jinping , violence against their own people is built into the DNA of the Chinese Communist Party. Republicans in Congress are fully committed to holding the CCP accountable for their history of horrific human rights abuses, as well as their hostile actions towards the United States and our allies, including their blatant coverup of the origins of COVID-19. On this anniversary of the CCP’s founding, we remember the millions killed at the hands of the regime, and stand with the Chinese people in pursuit of freedom and liberty.”
