Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik today announced that the Department of Transportation (DOT) has selected Cape Air at Saranac Lake to provide several nonstop, roundtrip flights from Adirondack Regional Airport (SLK) to Boston-Logan International Airport (BOS) and New York-John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The DOT will provide more than $10 million in federal funds over the next four years to ensure these critical services remain in the North Country.
“I am proud to announce that Cape Air has been selected to continue their Essential Air Service for our North Country communities,” Stefanik said. “I advocate for this critical program every year to provide our North Country residents with convenient and more accessible travel, as well as attract tourists to our region. I will continue to work to keep and expand this critical program throughout the North Country.”
Congresswoman Stefanik has long advocated for increased funding for the Essential Air Service (EAS) program during every appropriations season to provide critical funding for rural airports and allow smaller communities like those in the North Country access to the national air transportation system.
