Stefanik Slams Stay on Mask Mandates

Says this is an Attack on Parents, Students, and Schools

January 25, 2022

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik today released the following statement on the stay granted on the indoor mandate case this afternoon.

“Forcing an unconstitutional mask mandate is an attack on our parents, students, children, and New York schools, and it is shameful that Governor Hochul and her Department of Education are continuing to push the enforcement of their mandate.

“Today, we witnessed Kathy Hochul still force to keep her authoritarian power grab in place by lying to schools and parents even though no stay was in place this morning. This only resulted in creating mass confusion for school districts across our state.

“In less than 24 hours, I have heard from parents in the North Country and across New York whose children were illegally turned away from school or required to wear masks. They see this as a clear attack on their freedoms, and I will continue to fight for our parents to be able to make decisions regarding their own children.”
