Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik today applauded Fort Drum breaking ground on their railhead project that will expedite the rapid deployment of troops, vehicles, and equipment from the base.
Stefanik has advocated for funding for this project for years and secured over $27 million to complete the Fort Drum Railhead Project.
“As the leading advocate in Congress for Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division, I am proud to have worked to deliver this critical funding to improve the readiness of the 10th Mountain Division, the most deployed Army division since 9/11. Today, we are witnessing these taxpayer dollars return to our district to strengthen the Fort Drum community and enhance our military readiness,” Stefanik said. “Rapid deployment capability is one of the core features of Fort Drum’s critical role in our nation’s defense. I will continue to advocate for ways to strengthen Fort Drum and our nation’s military.”
