Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik today announced the Village of Dolgeville will receive $1,907,561 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to restore flood-damaged properties. These funds were made possible following Stefanik’s advocacy after the October 2019 storms for President Trump to declare this a major disaster.
“It is an honor to have delivered this result for the Village of Dolgeville and return $1.9 million in taxpayer dollars to our district,” Stefanik said. “Since this flooding happened, I worked with local officials to bring the concerns of New York’s 21st District to the highest levels to ensure they have the resources they need to rebuild. Now, this significant funding will return to our district to help Herkimer and Fulton County communities recover from this devastating flooding.”
Following the flooding, Stefanik worked with state and local officials to initiate a Joint Preliminary Damage Assessment in order to access FEMA funds to rebuild our communities. This grant will fund the acquisition and demolition of 20 properties located in the 100-year floodplain in the Village of Dolgeville, Herkimer County, and Fulton County. The project will include site stabilization and grading.
