Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik today called on Canada and U.S. to fully restore Northern Border travel and drop all remaining restrictions, including Canada’s mandatory use of the ArriveCAN app and vaccine mandates harming travel.

“I am calling on both Canada and the United States to drop all remaining restrictions on Northern Border travel,” Stefanik said. “President Joe Biden admitted this week that the pandemic is over, and it is past time for his Northern Border policies to reflect that. I have been calling for an end to these restrictions for months, including the that is imposing unnecessary wait times and disincentivizing travel and tourism. For too long, our Northern Border communities have suffered because of forced closure and burdensome travel regulations, which has been devastating to small businesses in North Country communities. I will continue to lead the charge to end all vaccine mandates and regulations that impede Northern Border travel, so our North Country communities, tourism, and commerce can be fully restored.”

In August, Stefanik called on the Canadian government to end the required use of the ArriveCAN app that has disrupted Northern Border travel and damaged cross-border tourism and commerce. Stefanik consistently pressed the Biden Administration for a plan to reopen the Northern Border. Since its successful reopening following her advocacy, Stefanik has been working to end all vaccine requirements and other disruptions to fully restore Northern Border travel.
