We must continue to promote and propel America’s robotics superiority while safeguarding our privacy and national security from adversaries. This is why I am introducing bicameral, bipartisan legislation with my colleague, Senator Cotton," said Stefanik.

“Robots made by Communist China threaten Arkansans’ privacy and our national security. Our bill will ban the federal government from buying and operating these devices made in countries that wish us harm,” said Cotton.

“The Chinese Communist Party has shown that they are willing to lie and cheat to get ahead at the expense of the American people and our national security. They are running their standard playbook—this time in robotics—trying to flood the U.S. market with their technology, which presents real security risks and threats to Americans’ privacy and American research and industry. We must protect our country from these threats, starting with a ban on the federal government buying this CCP technology,” said Schumer.

The American Security Robotics Act would:

Ban federal government from procuring and operating unmanned ground vehicle systems manufactured by foreign entities of concern, including humanoid robots and autonomous patrol technology.

Truman Scholarship Foundation Board Member Elise Stefanik Introduces Legislation to 'Clean House' of Organization's Radical Left-Wing Bias

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY), a designated Republican appointee to the Truman Scholarship Foundation's Board of Trustees, introduced the Truman Scholarship Clean House Act which would affect top-down change and help rid the foundation of its deeply embedded left-wing bias.

"It is unfortunate and inappropriate that the Truman Scholarship Foundation continues to award scholarships to radical left-wing students—even criminals— rather than address the glaring political imbalance within its organization. Multiple data analyses have revealed the systemic underrepresentation of conservative scholarship recipients. I shared my concerns earlier this year at the board meeting. My legislation would finally reform the Truman Scholarship Foundation to promote an ideologically diverse class of recipients and ensure that only law-abiding students receive these scholarships," said Stefanik.

The Truman Scholarship Clean House Act would radically reform the scholarship program by:

Firing the current Board of Directors
Firing the current Executive Secretary
Empowering President Donald Trump to select the majority of the new Board of Directors (with advice and consent of the Senate, consistent with current law)
Requiring that interviewers who select Truman winners must be approved by a supermajority of the board to prevent highly biased individuals from serving as an interviewer
Requiring that no more than half of each board of interviewers who select Truman winners may be from the same political party, to prevent interview panels from being dominated by one political party
Codifying that only US citizens (or US nationals), not illegal immigrants, are eligible for the Truman scholarship

The legislation would also establish a code of conduct that scholarship applicants must meet with requisites including:

Not serving as the leader of a student organization that has been suspended for misconduct
Not having been suspended or expelled by their institution for violating the student code of conduct
Not having been convicted of a felony
Requiring that scholarships will be revoked from any Truman winner who fails to abide by the above terms

Stefanik released a letter last year to the organization's Board of Trustees, urging immediate action to address troubling patterns of political imbalance in the Foundation’s scholarship award process.

The House Education and Workforce Committee will mark up the Truman Scholarship Clean House Act next week, the first step toward advancing the legislation into law.

Stefanik, Cotton Introduce Legislation to Ban CCP-Sponsored Companies from Receiving U.S. Defense Contracts

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Chairwoman of House Republican Leadership, and Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) introduced the Trucking Security and CCP Disclosure Act to ban Communist Chinese entities from receiving sensitive U.S. transportation contracts, while also prohibiting Chinese nationals from operating trucks carrying Department of War (DoW) cargo.

“Most Americans would be shocked to learn that U.S. law does not already prohibit Communist China's military from receiving transportation contracts tied to American defense projects. This bicameral legislation closes that loophole by establishing a clear firewall between the Chinese Communist Party and Department of War contracts. American tax dollars should never benefit our greatest adversary at the expense of U.S. national security,” said Stefanik.

“Communist China continues spying on American military technology by exploiting truck drivers handling Department of War cargo. My bill will require anyone handling military freight to be properly vetted to ensure our adversaries cannot gain access to valuable information,” said Cotton.

As senior Members of the Armed Services Committees and Intelligence Committees, Stefanik and Cotton are working to include the Trucking Security and CCP Disclosure Act in the FY'27 National Defense Authorization Act.

'Significant Security Vulnerabilities': Stefanik, Scott Sound Alarm on China-Backed Company for Misleading Customers, Targeting Military Consumers

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) sent a letter to Department of Commerce (DOC) Secretary Howard Lutnick and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr, urging a formal investigation into the CCP-sponsored Anker Innovations for inviting potential foreign surveillance into Americans' homes and targeting military consumers.

"Anker, through its Eufy brand, has a documented history of significant security vulnerabilities related to its security camera business and has been accused of misleading the public about these issues. In 2025, the State of New York secured a $450,000 settlement from companies distributing Eufy home security products after finding that “video streams from the cameras were not always securely encrypted and could be accessible to anyone with the relevant link without authentication," the lawmakers wrote.

" . . . Anker offers many of these systems on U.S. military exchange websites, and for direct sales. Anker also provides up to a 20% discount on its Eufy products to current and former U.S. military, their spouses and dependents. While these are retail sales, rather than direct Department of War procurement, the FCC has previously noted that the presence of high-risk network-connected devices in sensitive physical locations can constitute a security risk," they continued.

As senior Members of the House Armed Services Committee and Senate Armed Services Committee, respectively, Stefanik and Scott also requested that the DOC and FCC respond to questions concerning Anker Innovation’s ownership structure and whether its products transmit data to servers located in China.

Stefanik, Kean, Tenney Renew Push to Invest in Warfighting Capabilities at Fort Drum

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Representatives Elise Stefanik (NY-21),Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07), and Claudia Tenney (NY-24) sent a letter to Daniel Driscoll, Secretary of the Army, renewing their call for the Army to establish a Close Combat Innovation Cell (CCIC) in partnership with the North Country's 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum and Picatinny Arsenal.

"We urge the Army to take the next practical step and allocate $20 million out of last year’s budget reconciliation package’s $500 million for 'development, production, and integration of' counter-UAS funding to sustain and expand CCIC activities executed by Troika Solutions’ Accelerated Capabilities Team (ACT), in direct partnership with the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center (DEVCOM AC) at Picatinny Arsenal and the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum. This is a prudent, immediate-use investment that aligns resources to a proven construct, leverages existing infrastructure and authorities, like OTAs that are supported by President Trump, and delivers near-term operational impact while informing longer-term programmatic decisions," the lawmakers wrote.

Their letter follows the Army's completion of the FY2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) briefing and report that confirmed a CCIC would improve close combat lethality and adaptability in contested, multi-domain environments.

Stefanik and Kean previously sent a letter to Driscoll this past October, expressing their support for the Army's Memorandum of Agreement between the 10th Mountain Infantry Division at Fort Drum, U.S. Army's DEVCOM AC, and Picatinny Arsenal to establish a CCIC.

"We are concerned by the United States' dependence on foreign sources for gallium, particularly China, which currently holds a 98 percent share of the global supply and has imposed an export ban on shipments to the United States. Stefanik Urges Federal Investigation into NYC Department of Health's Alleged Taxpayer-Funded 'Working Group' that Accused Israel of 'Genocide'

Kennedy Jr. urging an immediate federal investigation into reports alleging that employees of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health) used taxpayer-funded time, personnel, and facilities to hold an antisemitic "Global Oppression and Public Health Working Group" meeting.

Stefanik additionally requested that HHS and the Office of Inspector General:

1. Open a formal investigation into whether federally funded resources, including staff time, equipment, or facilities, were used to organize, host, or promote the reported Global Oppression and Public Health Working Group meeting at NYC Health;

2. Assess compliance with Title VI and related HHS civil rights requirements, including whether the activity created or contributed to a hostile environment for Jewish employees or members of the public;

3. Evaluate whether senior NYC Health leadership or external political officials reviewed or approved the activity, and whether proper grant administration and internal controls were followed;

4. Determine whether corrective action, enforcement measures, or recovery of federal funds are appropriate.

Stefanik has repeatedly condemned the spike in violence against Jews in New York City where antisemitic hate crimes are up 182% just one month into Mayor Zohran Mamdani's administration.

Stefanik Passes Bipartisan Bill Named After North Country Veteran and Family to Enhance Veterans’ Access to VA Benefits

Remarks as prepared for delivery:

"Thank you, Madam Speaker, and thank you to Chairman Bost. I rise today in support of my legislation, the Ernest Peltz Accrued Veterans Benefits Act H.R. 3123. I also want to thank Ranking Member Takano for his comments and support.

I represented the Peltz family for well over a decade, and that included Ernest Peltz, a World War II veteran and American hero, who died a few years ago between Christmas and New Year's. At that time, I heard from his son, Charles Peltz, who found himself caught in a maze of bureaucratic VA red tape. Instead of being able to focus on honoring the life and service of his father, the Peltz family was forced to contend with a system that failed the very veteran it was designed to serve.

Hero Ernest Peltz did everything right: He served admirably and honorably in our military. He continued a lifetime of public service. He applied for his accrued veterans pension benefit, and the Department of Veterans Affairs approved it while he was still alive. Yet due to a processing error, the VA did not deposit the funds until after Mr. Peltz’s passing. In an even more troubling turn, the VA then clawed those funds back—even though Ernest Peltz was alive at the time his benefit was approved and fully earned.

As a result, Ernest's family was left to shoulder the financial burden of his father’s care on their own, compounding grief with stress, uncertainty, and frustration. In short, the Peltz family was penalized for the VA’s mistakes. This is unacceptable.

That’s why I first introduced the Ernest Peltz Accrued Veterans Benefits Act two Congresses ago. For years, I’ve worked closely with the Peltz family, veterans service organizations, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle—like Congressman Ro Khanna—to craft legislation to correct this moral wrong. My bill eliminates the burden on a veteran’s surviving family by ensuring that the veteran is entitled to receive their pre-approved pension benefits within the month that death occurs.

I represent New York’s 21st Congressional District—serving the largest number of veterans in any district in NY State. That’s why I’m proud to take action to make sure no family mourning the loss of a beloved veteran has to deal with VA red tape and bureaucratic mistakes.

This commonsense bipartisan legislation honors the legacy of World War II veteran Ernest Peltz and takes a critical step toward improving the VA’s effectiveness and accountability.

Stefanik Delivers $10 Million to Fund Great Lake Fishery Commission, Establish Lake Champlain Outreach Center

Trudeau Institute

$4,200,000 to enable the biotech research institute to identify, develop, and disseminate best practices for the application of process control, automated data collection, and measurement techniques in the biosciences and biotechnology, as well as advance the mission of the National Institute of Standards and Technology by facilitating more rapid commercialization of biotechnology in both the public and private sectors.

Village of Hudson Falls

$2,000,000 to replace deteriorating water mains.

Town of Lake Luzerne

$1,784,000 to rehabilitate its existing water storage tank and replace antiquated water mains within the Lake Luzerne Water District.

"It is exciting to hear that Congresswoman Stefanik’s EPA Stag Drinking Water State Revolving Fund grant for the Town of Lake Luzerne is still proceeding. This grant of $1,784,000 will allow our small upstate Adirondack tourist town to replace parts of our municipal system that in some cases are over 100 years old," said Town of Lake Luzerne Supervisor Jim Niles. "Last year alone we had to perform emergency repairs on 11 leaks, in a system that serves approximately 1,100 homes. Clean reliable water is a fundamental component to the health and quality of life in our community, and it is essential to our largest industry which is tourism. Town of Herkimer

$1,594,064 to replace inadequate and failing septic systems.

"The Town of Herkimer’s East Herkimer Sewer Project is an economic development project based on installing municipal wastewater infrastructure to allow for local businesses to grow and develop," said Town of Herkimer Supervisor Dominic Frank. "As such it is consistent with Congresswoman Stefanik’s steadfast support for economic growth in our area, and the Town of Herkimer cannot thank her enough for seeing the value in this project. This project has a dramatic impact to our area as it will allow for not only existing businesses to grow as 20 to 40 manufacturing and health care jobs will be created, but also allow for new planned development such as a skilled nursing facility and a community center to be constructed in the immediate area. Town of Richmondville

$1,000,000 to improve the current aging and failing wastewater treatment system and provide for the safe disposal of wastewater.

"Our sewer project planning started four years ago," said Town of Richmondville Supervisor Jeff Haslun. "The Town of Richmondville previously has been awarded three grants, an Enhanced WIIA grant through Environmental Facilities Corporation, an Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law through the Environmental Facilities Corporation, and a Schoharie County ARPA award. Our project is expected to start construction this spring and with this additional funding support it will help minimize any debt service that those citizens will have to pay, which when the Town of Richmondville did an income survey, it revealed that 76% of the residents were of low to moderate income with a median household income of $40,601. Clinton County

$500,000 to enable the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office to obtain a maritime patrol vessel, allowing for safe operations in all weather conditions and enhancing Northern Border Security and interstate maritime safety on Lake Champlain.

Stefanik, NY House Republican Delegation Urge Hochul to Veto Detrimental Anti-100 Foot Rule Legislation that Would Gut Energy Affordability and Grid Reliability

Garbarino (R-NY-02), Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17), Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24), and Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY-11) sent a letter to New York Governor Kathy Hochul urging her to veto bill S8417 (Krueger)/A8888 (Simon) currently on the Governor's desk that seeks to eliminate New York's longstanding "100-foot rule" for natural gas hookups to residential homes and commercial buildings.

"The elimination of the "100-foot rule" is a direct and damaging blow to Upstate New York families who are already bearing the weight of surging costs from your war on affordable energy. Forcing future homeowners to shoulder the full material and installation costs for connecting to natural gas service with costs that are up to $14,000 per home will only worsen the state’s ongoing housing crisis and make the American Dream of home ownership less attainable for New Yorkers," the lawmakers wrote.

"That is precisely why members of the New York delegation support protecting the right of consumers and businesses to access reliable and affordable energy with the passage of H.R. 3699, the Energy Choice Act, in the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee," they added.

Stefanik Demands Federal Investigation into Hochul’s NYS DOH Medicaid Mismanagement as North Country Hospitals Face Closure Following Funding Lapse

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Chairwoman of House Republican Leadership, sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi urgently requesting the Department of Justice (DOJ) to launch an immediate investigation into the New York State Department of Health (DOH) for potential mismanagement of federal Medicaid funds under Governor Kathy Hochul’s failed leadership, which has left rural hospitals on the brink of closure just weeks before Christmas, including North Star Health Alliance (NSHA) hospitals, Carthage Area Hospital, and Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center/Campus.

“Seven million New Yorkers rely on Medicaid for healthcare services. North Star Health Alliance hospitals serve the geographically isolated St. Lawrence and Jefferson Counties, where Federal tax dollars support crucial programs for the surrounding population,” Stefanik wrote. “The closure of Ogdensburg's only acute care hospital would have devastating economic impacts on the region as well. North Star officials have informed my office that 1,700 jobs are threatened in the event that the state forces a closure by not releasing funds owed.” She continued, writing, “Additionally, North Star Health Alliance's hospitals and affiliates form a critical, integrated healthcare network that directly supports Fort Drum, home of the United States Army 10th Mountain Division.”

“Governor Hochul has long used our taxpayers’ Medicaid contributions like a personal slush fund for her own benefit. The State’s refusal to release promised funding and resolve procedural delays is manufacturing a crisis that threatens the health, economy, and security of the North Country,” she concluded.

Stefanik requests that the DOJ investigate the following to quantify the funds owed and expose DOH’s willful systemic issues:

Claims Volume Shortfall: What was the shortfall in claims volume during February-April 2024, the period during and immediately following the cyberattack, versus expected Medicaid managed-care encounter volume?
Payment Lag Time: What was the lag time in payment of claims by MCOs, and how did this overlap with the DPT rating period deadlines to potentially deny funding?
DPT Application: Can it be shown in detail through MCO remittance data whether DPT add-ons were applied to specific late/adjusted claims?
Underpayment Evidence: Is there any other evidence of underpayment by the state compared to expected CMS-approved DPT amounts from the preprint caps?
MCO Disputes: Have there been any disputes or correspondence between the hospital and its Medicaid MCOs regarding missed supplemental payments, and were those ever resolved?
Binding Guidance: Has the state issued any binding guidance requiring MCOs to retroactively account for lost claims that does not appear in public documentation?
