Congresswoman Elise Stefanik

Representing the 21st District of New York

Cybersecurity

Cyberspace is a critical front on the 21st Century Battlefield. Our adversaries and terrorist organizations have exercised an increased use of cyber capabilities to support their objectives and undermine the United States.

Countries such as North Korea, China, Iran, and Russia are actively investing in the development of their offensive and defensive cyber capabilities—working to close the capability gap and overcome the United States in cyberspace. It is critical the United States continue to modernize and develop our cyber capabilities, deepen international partnerships, and enhance congressional oversight of sensitive cyber operations and the technical and operational capabilities needed to conduct them. Our cyberspace goals are best achieved through the collaboration of the government, military, and commercial industry. It is imperative we continue to find ways to integrate advances achieved in private industry in order to maintain our technological edge.

As the chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities, Congresswoman Stefanik is committed to focusing on the cyber capability of our nation. Congress has an oversight role and must stay involved as the government continues to develop and implement a more robust cyber strategy. Congresswoman Stefanik will continue to focus her efforts on this critical front.
