Stefanik Cosponsors Resolution Recognizing Efforts of USNS Comfort and USNS Mercy During COVID-19
Saratoga, NY – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is an original cosponsor of a Resolution to commend the efforts and honor the work of the men and women of the USNS Comfort, the USNS Mercy, and the United States Navy in the response to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in New York and Los Angeles. The USNS Comfort and USNS Mercy were deployed to support hospitals who were close to capacity in two cities heavily hit by the virus. This resolution expresses condolences to the families and friends who lost loved ones due to COVID-19 and commends the healthcare workers and first responders who have cared for those who have been infected, as well as the men and women of the Mercy and the Comfort who deployed.
“The United States Navy heeded the call to action to protect and serve our country amid the COVID-19 crisis and those who have worked on the front lines deserve our utmost recognition and respect,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “I am proud to be an original cosponsor of this Resolution to honor those who have been deployed to care for our communities and protect them, especially those who were called to service here in New York State, the epicenter of the pandemic.”
