Washington, D.C.  – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik voted today in favor of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, bipartisan legislation that requires employers to make reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers who need them in order to continue working and supporting their families. It also prohibits employers from denying employment opportunities to women based on their need for reasonable accommodations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. Congresswoman Stefanik is a cosponsor of this bill, which passed the House today on a bipartisan basis.

“Women who are working to support themselves and their families throughout their pregnancy must be provided with the resources and accommodations they need to stay healthy and comfortable while at work,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “I am proud to be a supporter of this legislation and to vote for its passage to ensure that pregnant workers have access to reasonable accommodations that they rightfully deserve. I will continue to be an advocate for working families in my district and beyond, and I applaud the House for coming together in a bipartisan fashion to pass this important legislation.”
