Washington, D.C.  – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has received the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF)’s “Friend of Farm Bureau” award recognizing her efforts and advocacy on behalf of farmers. The American Farm Bureau Federation gives the award to members of Congress who were nominated by their respective state Farm Bureaus and approved by the AFBF Board of Directors.

“It is an honor to be nominated by the New York Farm Bureau and recognized by the American Farm Bureau for my advocacy on behalf of North Country farmers, who are truly essential to our economy and culture,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “Throughout my time in Congress, I have been a tireless advocate for our diverse and robust agricultural landscape and the farmers who work hard to produce wholesome food for our communities. I successfully advocated during the 2018 Farm Bill process to replace the Margin Protection Program with a much more comprehensive Dairy Margin Coverage program, and for provisions that support specialty crop farmers. I have also been a fierce advocate for free and fair trade, and worked with my House colleagues as well as the Administration to successfully sign USMCA into law in order to expand market access for our North Country farmers. I thank both New York Farm Bureau and American Farm Bureau for this award and for their advocacy on behalf of their industry. I will continue to be a leading voice in Congress on important agricultural issues such as trade, labor, and government regulation in order to support our North Country farms and agribusinesses.”
