Saratoga, NY – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has announced a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) award of $1,450,864 for the Community Action Planning Council of Jefferson County. This award will be used for Head Start projects in the area. The Head Start program provides comprehensive early childhood education and development services to promote school readiness for low-income children. Federal grants are awarded directly to public agencies, private nonprofit and for-profit organizations, tribal governments, and school systems for operating Head Start programs in local communities.
“I am proud to announce that Jefferson County will once again receive another year of funding for this important program,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “Many of our families and communities rely on the Head Start program for early childhood development, and it is crucial that we continue to provide resources to support them. I recently had the opportunity to visit the Head Start in Dexter and witness the impact that it has on children and families and how much this funding is really needed. I will continue to advocate for these programs at the federal level, as I do each year.”
