Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik today led her colleagues in sending a letter to President Biden condemning his administration’s approach to addressing the current assault on the Enbridge Line 5 pipeline at the expense of our domestic energy production and relationship with our Canadian allies.

“President Biden’s failed energy policy has created a crisis and Americans are paying more to heat their homes and fill up their cars,” Stefanik said. “Now, Biden is doubling down on his failed policies. This time, to the detriment of our relationship with our partner, Canada. Our relationship with the Canadians is critical to the North Country, and I will not back down from working to preserve this key relationship with our Canadian allies.”

In the letter, the lawmakers pointed out that this week, we learned of the Biden Administration has been examining the impact of shutting down the Enbridge Line 5 pipeline that travels from Superior, Wisconsin to Sarnia, Ontario. This not only would be destructive to our domestic energy production, but also the United States’ relationship with our ally, Canada.
