Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik voted in favor of the bipartisan Allies Act, legislation that ensures Afghan interpreters and other allies who supported the U.S. mission in Afghanistan are not left behind.

“Today I was proud to vote for the passage of the Allies Act, a bill that I cosponsored, to protect and assist our Afghan interpreters and allies who have been critical to our security mission in Afghanistan since 2001,” said Congresswoman Stefanik. “President Biden’s decision to rapidly withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan not only jeopardizes our counter terrorist mission against terrorist groups, but also risks a complete takeover of Afghanistan by a resurgent Taliban—putting the lives of our Afghan allies at incredible risk. We must ensure that those who worked side-by-side with U.S. forces are not left to be persecuted by the Taliban as President Biden conducts this poorly planned and executed exit from Afghanistan.”
