Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik today announced a $737,614 emergency community water assistance grant for the Town of Westport in Essex County through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program.

“Today, I am announcing $737,614 in taxpayer dollars are returning to our district to secure a water source in the Town of Westport,” Stefanik said. “After experiencing the loss of access to a secure water supply due to drought conditions, this grant will assist the community in securing a reliable water supply.”

This grant will be used to secure an adequate water source for the Wadhams Water District after drought conditions caused a well in the Town of Westport to run dry, eventually resulting in the collapse of the well shaft.
