Washington, D.C. β Today, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY-21), member of the House Armed Services Committee and Chair of the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities, released the following statement on the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system to South Korea:
βIn my recent Congressional Delegation visit to Japan and the Republic of Korea, my colleagues and I on the House Intelligence Committee saw first-hand the threat that North Korea poses to our national security and to our allies. I believe deployment of the THAAD missile defense system is the right step in response to the recent missile launches by North Korea and will help build on our alliances in the region. I look forward to working from my positions on the House Intelligence Committee and the House Armed Services Committee to strengthen our national security and foster strong relationships with our allies throughout the region and the world.β
