Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik today announced L.E.A.P., a nonprofit community action program that serves Washington County, will receive a $2,313,724 grant for their Head Start and Early Head Start Projects to support early childhood education.

“I am proud to announce that over $two million in taxpayer dollars will return to our district to improve the education and development of children in Washington County,” Stefanik said. “Community-based programs like Head Start are critical to equipping North Country families for a strong start to their children’s life.”

The council has five operating centers across Washington County, serving hundreds of children by providing education resources and support for them and their families.

Stefanik has received national recognition for her support for Head Start.
