Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Elise Stefanik released the following statement after voting to successfully pass the Consolidated Appropriations Act which secures nearly $30M in critical funding for multiple Upstate New York and North Country community projects and provides significant investment into Fort Drum.

“I am proud to once again deliver results for Upstate New York and the North Country by passing an appropriations package to fund critical projects throughout NY-21, including essential resources to commence the planning and design for the third homeland missile defense interceptor site at Fort Drum. With this bill, House Republicans are slashing wasteful spending and limiting Joe Biden’s overreach into the lives of hardworking taxpayers,” said Congresswoman Elise Stefanik. 

Through the Consolidated Appropriations Act, Stefanik delivered funding for NY-21 community projects and secured several additional wins that she advocated for, including:

Key Conservative Wins

  • Protecting veterans 2nd Amendment Rights by prohibiting the VA from submitting a veteran or beneficiary’s name to the FBI’s NICS list without a judge’s consent. 
  • Cutting funding to the Environmental Protection Agency by nearly 10%.
  • Cutting $977 million from the Department of Justice’s funding compared to the last fiscal year. 
  • Reducing the FBI’s funding by 6%. 

Securing Funds for A Third Missile Defense Site

  • $10 million for the Missile Defense Agency to begin planning and design activities for a third homeland missile defense interceptor site at Fort Drum, New York.

Investing in NY-21’s Economic Development 

  • $41 million is included for the Northern Border Regional Commission. 

Wins for Upstate New York and the North Country

  • Secures language to protect flavored milk options in schools in all grade levels.
  • $20 million for the National Park Service’s American Battlefield Protection Program.
  • $25 million for the Lake Champlain geographic program.  
  • $368 million for EPA’s Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) program.
  • $40 million for the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway.
  • $348.5 million for DOT’s Essential Air Service (EAS) program.
  • Full funding for the Specialty Crop Research Initiative (SCRI).

  • $2,500,000 for a Sewer Service and Infrastructure Expansion Project in Rensselaer County.
  • $2,700,000 for a Water District Expansion Project in the Town of Lowville.
  • $2,000,000 for a Water Treatment Improvement Project in the Village of Rouses Point.
  • $2,000,000 for a Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project in the Village of Whitehall.
  • $1,693,000 for a Well Water Supply Project in the Town of Poestenkill.
  • $2,000,000 for a Consolidated Regional Sewer System Project in Fulton County.
  • $381,000 for a Wastewater Infrastructure Improvement Project in the Town of Bolton.
  • $1,857,000 for a Water District Development Project in the Town of Massena.
  • $2,750,000 for a Children's Center in Herkimer County.
