WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (NY-21), House Republican Leadership Chair, announced the signing of a $150 million Letter of Intent between the U.S. Department of Commerce and xLight, an American technology company building the next generation of semiconductor manufacturing technology, to bring xLight’s next generation semiconductor technology to New York.

“Today, I am proud to announce this historic deal between the Department of Commerce and xLight to build the next generation of semiconductor manufacturing technology in New York State. As Kathy Hochul continues to annihilate innovation and manufacturing across our great state with her Green New Scam policies, today’s announcement by Republican leaders in Washington is a beacon of hope for future generations of New Yorkers and for innovation, technology, and manufacturing in our great state,” said Stefanik.

This critical investment by the Department of Commerce will enable New York to be the center of excellence in the United States for the development of next generation of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography capability at the Albany Nanotech Complex. This technology, if further developed and commercialized, has a compelling chance to advance the capabilities and drive down the cost of manufacturing semiconductors at fabs across New York and across the United States.

Stefanik has long secured results and historic funding for New York’s critical technology that have leveraged New York’s unique technology ecosystem to strengthen American national security and economic security.
