Washington, D.C. - Today, House Republican Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik requested that the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights open a formal investigation into the Saratoga Springs City School District (SSCSD) Board of Education’s passage of the resolution titled “Affirming Our Support for Every Student.” In a letter to Education Secretary Linda McMahon, Stefanik requests an investigation on whether the SSCSD Board of Education violated federal law under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and articulated by President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 14201 titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.”
In the letter, Stefanik states, “On March 27, 2025, the SSCSD Board of Education in Saratoga Springs, New York, passed a resolution titled “Affirming Our Support for Every Student.” In the resolution, the SSCSD Board of Education states, “We will ensure their right to use facilities and participate in activities and sports consistent with their gender identity.” Allowing biological males into girls’ sports and locker rooms is in direct violation of President Trump’s executive order. Our daughters should not be forced to compete against biological men in competitive sports or share a locker room with biological men.”
Stefanik continues, “Under Title IX and articulated in President Trump’s Executive Order 14201, educational institutions that receive federal funding must be in compliance with Title IX’s requirements to protect opportunities for women and girls to compete in safe and fair sports. I join President Trump in his commitment to protect our nation’s girls and daughters. This Far Left woke ideology has no place in our communities.”
