Ticonderoga, NY — Last year, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik met with America250 and personally invited them to host an event at Fort Ticonderoga to highlight the North Country and New York's significant military history related to our nation's founding 250 years ago. This event will mark the 250th anniversary of America’s first military victory in the Revolutionary War—the capture of Fort Ticonderoga.
“At my invitation, America250 came to Fort Ticonderoga in New York's 21st Congressional District to honor the legacy of America’s first victory in the Revolutionary War. The battle for Fort Ticonderoga in 1775 served as the first major victory for the American patriots over the British," said Congresswoman Stefanik.
"The victory boosted the Continental Army's morale to continue the fight for liberty and against tyranny, an idea that continues to live in the hearts of all Americans today, as the nation celebrates the 250th anniversary of our founding."
Congresswoman Stefanik added, "Throughout my time in Congress, I have worked to protect, preserve, improve, and promote New York's incredible historic sites - particularly our battlefields. I have delivered over $2.5 million in funds for Fort Ticonderoga. In 2024, I was proud to provide $750,000 for its wall reconstruction, a significant investment in preserving our nation’s history."
The event featured the immersive reenactment “No Quarter!,” recreating the dramatic raid on May 10, 1775, that played a pivotal role in the fight for American independence.
The reenactment was part of Fort Ticonderoga’s REAL TIME REVOLUTION™ initiative, a three-year project bringing key Revolutionary War events to life. The initiative coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence.
