"Good morning, everyone,
Thank you for coming today in support of this important piece of legislation - the Educational Choice for Children Act. I especially want to thank Congressmen Adrian Smith, Burgess Owens, Jim Jordan, and Chairman Walberg for joining me.
The Educational Choice for Children Act is a transformative piece of legislation that will expand educational opportunities for children across our nation.
This bill complements the High-Quality Charter Schools Act, which I have proudly supported since its inception in 2022.
Together, these two pieces of legislation are designed to empower families, elevate students, and promote school choice.
For too long, students—especially those from underserved communities –have been trapped in failing school systems. Despite their potential, these children are denied high-quality education. School choice gives students the opportunity to succeed.
The Educational Choice for Children Act legislation aims to expand educational choice. It will encourage more individuals and businesses to invest in our children’s futures by establishing a 75% federal tax credit for qualified charitable contributions made to nonprofit schools with proven success.
This issue hits right at the heart of my home state in New York. Governor Kathy Hochul has caused an educational crisis for our kids.
NY elected Democrats near universal opposition to school choice has left our students trapped in a failing system. Despite spending more than any state in the nation per student —New York’s schools continue to underperform with rampant absenteeism and failing outcomes.
It’s time to give every child the chance to reach their full potential.
Thank you."
