SARATOGA, N.Y., - Today, House Republican Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik led the introduction of a resolution condemning the disturbing act of violence on July 28, 2025, in New York City, where a madman killed innocent victims in cold blood, including an off duty New York City Police Department officer. The resolution also commended the bravery of the New York City Police Department in responding to and neutralizing the shooter.

"I am proud to lead this House Resolution to condemn the heinous attack on innocent victims on July 28, 2025, in Midtown Manhattan, where a deranged shooter would have taken more lives if it were not for the heroism of the NYPD," said Chairwoman Stefanik. "Every day brave men and women in law enforcement put their lives on the line to protect New York families. Anti-police policies should have no place in our great state. God Bless our First Responders and heroes in blue."

The Resolution expresses four actions:

  1. Condemns the cold act of violence in New York City that tragically claimed the lives of three civilians and NYPD police officer Didarul Islam.
  2. Honors the lives of the victims killed in the attack and voices support and condolences for the families and loved ones of the victims.
  3. Praises the bravery exhibited by Didarul Islam, Aland Etienne, and the entirety of the New York City Police Department for the heroism they displayed in responding to and neutralizing the shooter.
  4. Condemns divisive rhetoric and violence against federal, state, and local law enforcement officers and urges lawmakers to redouble their commitment to backing the blue.
