Schuyler, New York – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik today toured the Fountainhead Group’s manufacturing and distribution center in Herkimer County. This family-owned business employs over 200 workers.
“I was proud to tour the Fountainhead Group in Herkimer County today and am thankful for their important work providing good-paying jobs in our area and quality products around the world,” Stefanik said. “To ensure they can continue their manufacturing and distribution for generations to come, I am working towards solutions to solve the supply chain crisis, combat skyrocketing inflation, and support our local workers and employers in the midst of a workforce shortage.”
“Over the past several years, Herkimer County has set itself on a path of economic growth. The county has seen an influx of companies making large investments throughout the county, resulting in numerous jobs in various manufacturing, distribution and warehousing sectors,” said Bob Hollum, Herkimer County Legislator, District 4. “Congresswoman Stefanik has been a stalwart supporter of the county’s efforts to expand their economic base and create local jobs for residents across the region. With the Congresswoman’s support thus far, the county has been able to leverage funding which has contributed to the development of its business parks resulting in job creation and tax revenue for the county. As the county continues to move forward, we consider ourselves fortunate to have the continued backing of Congresswoman Stefanik who knows the importance and economic impact of creating jobs, as well as workforce development initiatives.”
Stefanik supported and voted into law the bipartisan Ocean Shipping Reform Act, which reduces challenges at ports to ease significant supply chain disruptions.
Additionally, she has worked to address the labor shortage as a senior member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce by leading the Validate Prior Learning to Accelerate Employment Act to accelerate job seekers’ return to and advancement in the workforce by more effectively identifying and validating their existing skills gained through prior work experience, military service, life experience, or education. She also led the Employer-Directed Skills Act to empower America’s job creators to provide skills development opportunities that equip workers for in-demand jobs.
