Rome, New York — Today, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik celebrated Chobani’s $1.2 billion investment at the groundbreaking ceremony for their new facility in Rome. The new plant will create over one thousand jobs in the district and directly benefit our local dairy farmers. The Congresswoman was joined by Chobani Founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, Oneida County Executive Tony Picente, New York State Senator Joseph Griffo, and Rome Mayor Jeffrey Lanigan.

“This $1.2 billion investment into New York’s 21st Congressional district will support 1,000 new jobs as well as promote the delicious and healthy dairy products Upstate New York has to offer. This is great news for our Upstate New York and North Country dairy farmers as well as our region’s economy. I am proud to welcome the hardworking employees of Chobani to NY21 and am grateful for their commitment to our region, said Congresswoman Elise Stefanik.

"New York is where Chobani’s journey began. It was the perfect spot to start Chobani 20 years ago, and it’s the perfect place to continue our story. Working with dedicated dairy farmers and the resilient community, we built something truly special—something bigger than the food we make. We ignited a movement toward better food made with heart, passion, and only the highest-quality ingredients. With our new plant in Rome and our original home in South Edmeston, we’re entering a new dimension, partnering with hard working people across the heartland of New York to build an ecosystem of natural food production and nourish families throughout the country. When you invest in people, in local communities, you’re not just building a business—you’re building a future," said Hamdi Ulukaya, Founder and CEO of Chobani.

“This is a generational win for Oneida County and the entire Mohawk Valley. We believed in the potential of the Griffiss Triangle site and invested over $6 million to make it shovel-ready because we knew it could attract a world-class partner like Chobani. I’m proud of the role Oneida County played in bringing this transformative project to fruition. This $1 billion investment will create over 1,000 good-paying jobs, boost our local economy, and reaffirm our region as a hub for innovation and opportunity. We couldn’t be happier to welcome Chobani to Rome and begin this new chapter together, said Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr.

“Today is a truly exciting and important day for Rome and Upstate New York. I want to thank Chobani for this historic $1.2 billion investment in our region—a project that will create more than 1,000 jobs and generate significant opportunities for our hardworking local dairy farmers. I also want to thank Congresswoman Elise Stefanik for her leadership, work and support of her constituents and the Mohawk Valley. I am looking forward to watching as this project progresses and am excited about the significant, positive, transformational impact it will have potentially have on the community, region and state," said New York State Senator Joseph Griffo.

“On behalf of the City of Rome, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Chobani and Hamdi Ulukaya for this historic $1.2 billion investment in our community. Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Rome—one that brings over 1,000 new jobs, revitalizes our local economy, and strengthens our connection to the proud tradition of Upstate dairy farming. I also want to sincerely thank Congresswoman Elise Stefanik for her leadership and tireless advocacy in helping make this project a reality. Her support at the federal level has been instrumental in delivering this opportunity to our city and our region,” said Rome Mayor Jeffrey Lanigan.
