Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Elise Stefanik sent a letter to the Biden-Harris Administration urging the administration to support New York State’s disaster declaration request following damage caused in Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, and St. Lawrence Counties during Tropical Storm Debby on August 8-10th.
In the letter, Stefanik states, “A major disaster declaration is critical to restoring these communities. I request that you swiftly consider and approve the State's request… The severity of the damage inflicted has left county and town governments scrambling to make repairs. With the continued interruptions to the community as repairs are made and winter weather rapidly approaching it is essential that these communities receive the help that this disaster declaration will provide. My office and I are ready to work with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to deliver support and resources to our impacted communities.”
Stefanik previously sent a letter to the Biden-Harris Administration supporting an emergency declaration request for the damage Tropical Storm Debby inflicted on the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s homes and businesses.
