Saratoga N.Y., - Today, House Republican Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik released the following statement on a Guatemalan national who, despite facing four felonies and two misdemeanors, is now free with no bail.

Police said the accused criminal is responsible for 12 high school students being rushed to the hospital after they consumed gummies he sold them that were laced with dangerous and deadly drugs:

“Because of the Worst Governor in America's soft-on-crime policies, this Guatemalan national accused of selling dangerous and deadly drugs to kids is free with no bail.

Four felonies. No bail. Back on the streets. Kids got sick and could have died. 12 students were rushed to the hospital. Yet this accused criminal is free thanks to Kathy Hochul.

If the Worst Governor in America refuses to crack down on crime, I will. It is appalling how Hochul fights for hard-core criminals first and puts public safety last.

Now more than ever, we need federal legislation to stop states from letting bad actors back on the street after committing serious crimes. I’m proud to lead the effort to end disastrous no-bail laws to protect families and keep communities safe,” said Chairwoman Stefanik.
