Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Elise Stefanik released the following statement on the record number of illegal immigrants crossing the Swanton Sector along the Northern Border. New York’s 21st Congressional District covers 150 miles of the Northern Border between the Swanton and Buffalo sectors.
“Open border czar Kamala Harris is responsible for the crisis at our Northern Border with the number of illegal crossings skyrocketing 50-fold and the number of crossings in 2024 surpassing the last 17 years combined. Under the failed Far Left Democrat leadership of Kamala Harris, Kathy Hochul, Eric Adams, and Chuck Schumer, illegal immigrants from 97 different countries have crossed the Swanton Sector and invaded Upstate New York York and the North Country incentivized by open borders and dangerous sanctuary city policies that are now threatening the safety and security of American families across our nation. Enough is enough. As the Representative of NY-21, I have been sounding the alarm for years that it is past time to secure our borders, ensure the safety of the American people, and return to President Trump’s secure border policies."
