Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, a senior member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and House Armed Services Committee, voted in support of H. Res. 104 to condemn the Chinese Communist Party’s violation of United States sovereignty through their use of use of a spy balloon.
“I was proud to send a strong message to Communist China that the United States will not tolerate their violation of sovereign U.S. airspace," Stefanik said. "In the face of Joe Biden’s abysmal failure as Commander in Chief to confront the Communist Chinese Party’s spy balloon before it crossed our nation dangerously over multiple sites critical to our national security, House Republicans are taking a step forward to promote the strength of the United States on the world stage. We are leading the charge to take the threat of Communist China seriously and hold them accountable for their malign actions to ensure this never happens again.”
The resolution condemns Communist China for their violation of the United States’ airspace with a surveillance balloon, determines it should be the policy to decisively act and prevent foreign aerial surveillance platforms, and demands a comprehensive briefing on the matter.
