Saratoga, N.Y. - Today, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik announced that The Fort Ticonderoga Association received $750,000 from the National Park Service Semiquincentennial Grant Program for the reconstruction and preservation of the fort walls.
“I am so excited to announce that my office has worked to deliver $750,000 from the National Park Service Semiquincentennial Grant Program to Fort Ticonderoga for the reconstruction of the fort walls. This is incredible news for our region as we plan to celebrate the anniversary of our nation’s founding. I am proud to serve as Co-Chair of the Congressional Battlefield Caucus where my office has expanded eligibility for Revolutionary War and War of 1812 sites and non-profits to apply for federal grant funds,” said Congresswoman Stefanik.
As Co-Chair of the Congressional Battlefield Caucus, Congresswoman Stefanik is a consistent champion for our many historic sites and was awarded the National Preservation Leadership Award from the American Battlefield Trust for her leadership on battlefield preservation last year.
In February 2024, Stefanik sent a letter to the Director of the National Park Service expressing strong support for Fort Ticonderoga’s grant application to stabilize and restore the Fort’s walls.
In November 2023, Stefanik’s bipartisan legislation, the American Battlefield Protection Program Enhancement Act passed the House of Representatives unanimously. This legislation makes improvements to the American Battlefield Protection Program (ABPP) and would allow non-profits such as Fort Ticonderoga to apply for ABPP Battlefield Land Acquisition Grants directly.
